What is the Mother Wound?

The mother wound is the psychological or emotional pain stemming from the relationship with your mother or mother figure- that could be a grandmother, foster mother, aunt, or even an older sibling.

The Mother Wound is also the generational trauma of being a woman passed down through your lineage of women in patriarchal cultures.

If your mother or mother figure did not or could not meet your needs when you were a child, and she was not emotionally attuned to you, it can cause inconsistencies in your sense of self.

If you’ve been let down, neglected, judged, criticized, humiliated, or abused, you most likely have the mother wound.

If you experience a challenging relationship with your mother or mother figure will affect your sense of self and your relationships with yourself and others. It can also affect your self-worth, physical and mental health, career and finances.

  • Low self-esteem and self-worth

  • People-pleasing

  • Co-dependency

  • Overworking to prove your worth

  • Overgiving to others to seek validation

  • Self-sabotage

  • Inability to trust yourself

  • Perfectionism

  • Unhealthy relationships

  • Low boundaries

  • Scarcity mindset

  • Money challenges

  • Feeling resentful as a mother if you have children

  • Feeling shame or guilt around your relationship with your mother or mother figure

Do you have these symptoms?

This isn't just a mini-course; it's your stepping stone towards self-empowerment and self-discovery.

I understand firsthand the struggle of carrying a mother wound. For years, I found myself trapped in cycles of unworthiness, negative self-talk and toxic relationships until I decided to heal.

When I hit 30, I embarked on my healing journey and began to reclaim my power and self-worth. I attracted loving relationships and deeper friendships, gained confidence as a woman and mother, and stepped into my authentic self more each day. You can do it, too!

This online course offers you the wisdom I learned through my own journey of healing the Mother Wound so that you can face your limiting beliefs related to your mother, rewire them and step into your true power

Now, I'm here to guide you on your journey of healing and empowerment. I've combined a decade of experience across various healing modalities into practical tools and techniques designed specifically for women like you who are ready to break free from the past and embrace their true selves.

Hey, I'm Marisa!

A Mother Wound survivor, certified trauma-informed coach, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner, and the creator of Healing The Mother Wound Summit.

Growing up with an emotionally unavailable mother in a dysfunctional family, I was a chronic people pleaser and had low self-esteem and boundaries. This led me to think I was "not good enough", and I used substances to numb my pain for most of my young adult life. I experienced toxic and abusive relationships and friendships because I didn't know how to say "No".

However, since moving away from my home country of Singapore and residing in Switzerland at the age of 30, I have had the space and freedom to explore many healing modalities, such as journaling, yoga, sound healing, breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, coaching, and attending shamanic ceremonies, to help me be the person I am today.

My transformation led me to start my coaching business nine years ago, starting as a holistic health coach for women and mothers.

In 2023, I transitioned to become a trauma-informed coach as I realized that all the women who came to me had challenging relationships with their mothers, which was affecting their health, mental health, career, finances and more.

Now, I focus on supporting women healing from childhood trauma and stepping into their authentic power.

I live in Zurich, Switzerland, with my husband and two kids.

  • What is Trauma-Informed Coaching?
    1. What is trauma-informed coaching? Trauma-informed coaching is an approach that recognizes the impact of trauma on a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It creates a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where healing and growth can happen. Rather than focusing on fixing or diagnosing, it supports clients in understanding their patterns, building resilience, and reclaiming agency in their lives. 2. How is trauma-informed coaching different from therapy? While therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions or processing past trauma, trauma-informed coaching focuses on personal growth, future goals, and nervous system regulation in the present. Coaching is not a replacement for therapy, but it can complement it beautifully. 3. Do I need to have a “big” trauma to benefit from trauma-informed coaching? Not at all. Trauma isn’t just about major life events—it can be anything that overwhelmed your nervous system and impacted your sense of safety or identity. Many of my clients come to me with experiences of emotional neglect, people-pleasing, or mother wounds that are often overlooked, but still deeply affect their lives. 4. What kinds of people benefit from this type of coaching? Anyone who wants to feel more grounded, confident, and free in their life. I often work with women navigating mother wounds, burnout, perfectionism, emotional reactivity, and inner child wounds. This work is especially supportive for those who feel stuck in old patterns and want lasting change—not just surface-level fixes.
